An open door while it's in gear is what makes it angry. But it sounds like you checked that. Note it is probably not "stuck" in neutral. If the car senses an Ebrake fault condition it will likely HOLD the car in neutral to keep from damaging itself.This is a common problem in many of the Chrysler model cars. I would suggest taking it to the dealer to have the security system reset. The fact that this happened when turning on the defrost suggests a potential short in the system.
